Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy

Best pocket simulator yet!

Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy was mentioned briefly during the launch of the new iPad, but I havn’t really begun playing it until the latest update.

This game is a console-quality, portable air combat simulator that sells for $4.99, much less than console games in the genre for $60. It’s got a lengthy single-player story mode, dogfight missions, and several different online multi-player modes (for up to 10 players). At any given moment I can pick up my iPhone 4 or New iPad, and within seconds I am engaged with players from across the country, dodging missiles while taking them down with my not-so-trusty P51′s machine guns.

There are many planes to unlock, and it seems more are coming via regular updates. Each handles like a dream no matter which of the four control modes you select, from full-on simulator to the more casual control pad options.

The graphics are certainly the most impressive, especially on Apple’s newest devices, where it’s optimized with 4x anisotropic filtering, refractive raindrops, radial blur, and other buzz-words that mean it looks pretty.

Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy has gotten many of good reviews for the way it looks, but it’s the way it plays is the real triumph.

This blog walks you through the Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy game, and is your unofficial source for tips, news, and of course… reviews.
